Building the Vision…Continuing the Vision
A Message from the Pastor:
In the movie, The Lion King, King Mufasa spoke some words to his son, Simba, after he had run away from his destiny. Mufasa said, “You are more than you have become.” I saw the movie years ago and have never forgotten that line. I thought then and now, what a message to the church!
God has a dream for Highland Colony Baptist Church. From the time that first group of worshipers met almost fifteen years ago, His vision for us has been emerging. Today, the vision God continues to give provides direction and energy. In short, the vision is big; a church intentionally reaching into this community where some 60% have no church affiliation, a ministry tapping the most fertile evangelistic field, a place where authentic worship is paramount and hundreds, if not thousands are drawn every week to meet with God, an environment where children, students and adults are helped on their journey to a mature and engaged faith, and even an opportunity to speak to the nation.
We have the vision from God. Now, we must build the vision. This vision will only be an empty dream if we don’t act. This was the purpose behind “Building the Vision”, our three year capital campaign the focused on building our new worship and meeting spaces and renovating our age-group spaces. Building the Vision began in 2006 with financial and prayer commitments form hundreds of folks at Highland Colony. We moved into the new space in August 2008. The three year giving campaign came to end in September 2009. But the vision has not yet been completed and so, as a church we continue to our efforts toward the vision.
A building is not the vision, but a tool for accomplishing it. As we continue the vision, will you pray about the sacrifice that God desires you make? We can do this! With God’s help, we can.
What is Highland Colony Baptist Church to become? May we never hear the words from our King, “You are more than you have become”. Let’s not run from our destiny. Come! Build the vision with us!
